Today, we discussed matters that have been in debate for many years. Is architecture art

or is art just something that compliments architecture? What is the purpose of architecture?

Well, in essence, architecture can be considered the epitome of design, something that is

both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

To this day people still question the usage of architecture, falsely believing that the

profession only consists of “making buildings pretty” . Both art and ingenuity are heavily

involved in the process of designing anything. Art is what gives anything its beauty, in

whatever definition it needs, and its feeling, which means the reaction that people have to it.

On the other hand, ingenuity is what gives it purpose and function, it is what defines how and what occurs in a determined space. The combination of both art and ingenuity is what gives architecture, and anything related to it, its identity.

Architecture is meant to be a profession that combines to an almost perfect state both

function and beauty. It works alongside many other professions that seek either end of the

spectrum, like Engineering for function and Arts for beauty, and it serves as a mediator of

sorts that can help each side communicate in the field of action. This type of career requires

a mentality capable of balancing both sides efficiently in order for the finalized product to

succeed.

In our opinion, architecture is, or can be, considered the epitome of design due to all the facts stated before. Its purpose is to create something that fully unites both fiction and reality. This profession has the capabilities to bring imagination into the real world as something useful and meaningfu
